Halloween: The Game - Best Civilians for Saving Special Targets
Michael wins most matches by killing 2 of the 3 Special Targets. Civilians win by hiding those three before Bloodthirst Tier 1, then sending them to an exit. This ranking is about Personality and escort traits, not fighting.
What this list ranks: Personality checks (hide / follow / call), follower durability, finding named NPCs early, and walking them to an exit before Bloodthirst Tier 1 pillars expose them. This is not a general combat ranking - low-Personality fighters drop even when they are strong overall.
Civilian Tier List for Saving Special Targets
| Tier | Civilian | Role | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| SS | Alexis Purcell | Escort lead | Max 10 Personality plus Popular - followers take ~90% less damage, less Fear, and fight back. Best civilian for walking Special Targets across open ground. |
| S | Tanya Harrison | Resident control | Also 10 Personality. Guardian Shadow gives followers 10% DR, and Survival Skills / Hi-Fi feed phone and Myers info so you move targets before he arrives. |
| S | Laurie Strode | Escort finder | 9 Personality plus Spatial Awareness highlights nearby residents while calm - locates Special Targets first and still contributes if the escort becomes a knockdown. |
| A | Thomas Armitage | Hide-and-hold | High Personality, traits buff resident health while hidden plus stronger locked doors. Built to park a target and buy time, not run a parade. |
| A | Jennifer Aarons | Anti-Stalk escort | Dreamer makes residents she talks to harder for Myers to Stalk, so a hidden Special stays off his Bloodthirst clock longer. Ghost helps her survive the walk. |
| A | Richard Hawthorne | Secondary escort | 9 Personality makes hide/follow/dispatch checks reliable. Best combat trait needs drunk plus high, which wastes escort time. |
| B | Lynda van der Klok | Backup control | Usable Personality and light/Stalk tools, but no real follower-protection number. Draft only if Alexis and Tanya are taken. |
| B | Annie Brackett | Exit setup | Helps get a car or police presence up so a saved target has somewhere to go, but she is not a strong persuader or bodyguard on the walk. |
| C | Eric Dunn | Exit scout | Hunter's Sense finds escapes for the route, but 3 Athleticism and average Personality make him a liability as the one talking to or walking the target. |
| C | Marcus Navarro | Door / repair mule | 4 Personality fails Special Target checks. Trespasser and Repair Expert still matter - let him open houses and fix the exit while someone else escorts. |
| C | Bob Simms | Myers bully | Best at punching Michael off an escort, worst at the conversation that creates the escort. Pair him, never give him the named NPC. |
| C | Rachel Calahan | Bloodthirst denier | 2 Personality is the worst talk stat on the roster. Full Moon helps after Myers is already on the target, not for saving them first. |
1Save the Specials in the First 60-90 Seconds
-
1
Open the map the instant you spawn
Gold/yellow/beige clouds are Special Targets; blue are regular residents. Sprint to the nearest gold marker - do not loot first. Michael cannot see the gold pillars until Bloodthirst 1, so you have a short exclusive window.
-
2
Talk, then Hide - not Follow
Complete the conversation QTE, then tell them to Hide in a different house, outdoor bush, or obscure spot - never the house they spawned in. Note the house number; hiding removes the gold pillar even at Tier 3.
-
3
Split the team across the three gold markers
Four players stacked in one kitchen leave two Specials exposed. Call your marker, then loot bolt cutters, keys, and weapons after all three are hidden.
-
4
Use regular residents after the Specials are safe
Tell a blue resident to Call Police, loot while they dial, then Hide them. They are expendable; Specials are not.
-
5
When an exit is open: Follow, then Escape
Communication wheel (hold Z / L1 / LB) within roughly 5-10 m: "Follow me" pulls them out of hiding, then "Escape" sends them to the nearest working exit - storm cellar, police wagon, etc. You do not have to walk inside the building.

Common Mistakes That Lose the Match
- Looting or calling police before the three gold markers are hidden. Specials first, everything else second.
- Hiding a Special in the same house they spawned in. Michael checks that exact house after Bloodthirst ticks up.
- Telling them to Follow while you wander for items. Michael tracks the escort and they die in the street.
- Using only Escape on a hiding NPC. The sequence is Follow, then Escape.
- Teammates "stealing" your just-hidden Special. A second conversation walks them back into the open.
- Forgetting house numbers after they hide. The marker disappears - write down or remember where you parked each target.
- Leaving early with zero Specials saved. Check gold markers before you take the exit yourself - personal survival still loses the match.
