Myers Shape Jump Stuck on Cooldown? Here Is the Fix
The most common Myers complaint: after leaving Shape Jump, the short cooldown never ends and you cannot re-enter for the rest of the match. Patch 1.0.3 fixed it - here is what to do if it still happens.
Update to Patch 1.0.3 first. The official notes list this exact fix: "Shape Jump could become stuck on cooldown for the rest of the match." Killer Sense had the same bug and was patched in the same update. Already on 1.0.3 and still stuck? Reality Tear is the only in-match reset - see below.
1What Triggers the Bug (So You Can Avoid It)
2If It Locks Mid-Match
-
1
Stop pressing Shape Jump.
The meter is locked - more presses do nothing.
-
2
Use Reality Tear.
It forces you in or out of Shape Jump and resets the stuck cooldown - the only in-match fix players consistently reported. Do not save Tear for a fancy ambush if Shape Jump is already dead. Tear's own cooldown is ~3:30, so this is a real cost.
-
3
After Tear, only transition on flat ground.
Enter and exit Shape Jump on flat surfaces, in darkness, with no civilian line of sight.
-
4
No Tear ready? Play walking Myers.
Stalk from cover, cut power boxes, hide in closets and cars (those still let you materialize), and wait for Tear. This fallback is exactly why some Myers players were leaving lobbies before the patch.
3Shape Jump Done Right
| Action | Input / Rule |
|---|---|
| Enter Shape Jump | Q (PC) / A (Xbox) / X (PlayStation) - requires darkness and no one watching you |
| Exit Shape Jump | Same key. If you glow red instead of going shadowy, you are too close, too lit, or being watched - back off |
| Shape Dash | Space / RB / R1 - a separate short lunge while already in Shape Jump, ~6s cooldown. Do not confuse Dash CD with the enter/exit CD |
| Bloodthirst | Does not shorten ability cooldowns - it only speeds travel and melee |
4Spend Tear or Wait?
-
▸
Civilians grouping or an escape open → spend Tear immediately.
Shape Jump is your only fast reposition. A locked cooldown with the match on the line is worth the 3:30 Tear cost.
-
▸
Quiet lobby → stalk NPCs for Bloodthirst and wait.
If no objective is under threat, walking Myers still farms pressure while Tear recharges.
-
▸
Stay in Shape Jump longer rather than popping in and out on stairs.
The bug was tied to the transition, not to time spent in the form.
Mistakes That Make It Worse
- Spamming the Shape Jump button to "force" it. Button mashing was itself a trigger - press once.
- Jumping off porches, stairs, or street curbs. Transition on flat ground only.
- Exiting in light or next to a civilian. You glow red and stay out - some players mistook that for the stuck-CD bug.
- Burning Tear just to travel. Then you have no reset when Shape Jump actually locks.
- Expecting Bloodthirst to shorten the cooldown. It does not touch ability CDs.
