Welcome to the Game III: Tanner Motel and Maid-Outfit DLC
Survive Tanner at the motel. Front-desk rush panic-button timing, motion sensor placement, motel-room peephole rules, and what the maid-outfit DLC actually changes (cosmetic only).
Core goal: Survive Tanner at the motel. The maid-outfit DLC only changes Tanner's appearance in Tanner's Closet. It does not change his attack patterns, timing, or counters. The real focus is not dying to his two main motel attacks: the front-desk rush through the sliding doors and the motel-room ambush.
1Front-Desk Rush (Most Common Death)
- 1Listen for the very quiet rustling-grass sound.
Same cue from Scrutinized. Headphones or AID Pods make it easier to hear. This is your earliest warning.
- 2Have the panic button (right of the computer) ready.
Press it once when you hear the rustle or when a motion sensor flags FRONT_OUTER_LOT or a short ~2-second beep. This temporarily locks the automatic sliding doors so he slams into the glass instead of reaching you.
- 3After he hits the glass, wait until he is clearly gone before releasing or using the button again.
First encounter he often falls. Later ones he just points and leaves. Do not re-trigger prematurely.
- 4Place motion sensors on the thin pillars at the edge of the parking lot near the road, or on the powerline posts closest to the breaker boxes.
Angle slightly toward the fence, chain-link, and pickup-truck hood, not straight down the road. Community testers reported this catching Tanner reliably with about 10 seconds of warning. Short beep is Tanner. Longer continuous beep is Lucas.
2Motel-Room Attacks
- 1Lock the door the instant you enter a room.
Do not wait. Lock first, then do anything else.
- 2Always look through the peephole before opening the door to leave.
If you see Tanner, stay inside and wait until he walks away. This also puts him on a short cooldown.
- 3Do not open the door just to check.
Opening it while he is visible turns a safe sighting into a kill.
3What the Maid-Outfit DLC Actually Changes
- 1Equip it in Tanner's Closet if you want the look.
No gameplay effect. Purely visual.
- 2Do not change your strategy based on the outfit.
Front-desk panic-button timing and motel-room peephole rules are identical with or without the DLC.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Spamming the panic button "just in case." Creates extra outages that force you outside and expose you to other threats.
- Ignoring the faint rustle and waiting until you see him on screen. Too late. The sound cue is your earliest warning.
- Leaving motel-room doors unlocked or skipping the peephole. The peephole is the only safe way to leave a room.
- Assuming the maid outfit changes difficulty or behavior. It does not. Treat it as cosmetic only.
- Relying only on cameras. They open slowly. Sensors are faster for the rush.
