Core Goal

Topaz's damage comes almost entirely from Numby. Players need to maximize Numby's FUA uptime, tune Crit correctly (Rate-to-DMG ratio matters), and pair Topaz with FUA allies who advance Numby extra turns. The build prioritizes Crit, ATK, and team synergy over personal raw output.

1 Relics & Stats (Farm This First)
SlotMain StatNote
BodyCrit Rate50%+ total to activate Salsotto; swap to Crit DMG at high eidolons
FeetSPD or ATK%SPD for more Numby turns, ATK% for raw ceiling - test both
SphereFire DMG%ATK% viable with Swordplay or heavy ATK buffers (Asta)
RopeATK%ERR only if running SP-positive rotation
Crit DMG
Primary damage stat
Crit Rate
Keep 1:2 ratio with DMG
ATK%
Third priority
SPD
134+ floor
Avoid DEF and HP substats - they contribute nothing to Topaz's kit. Re-roll or discard pieces that land heavily on these.
Best - 4pc
Ashblazing Grand Duke
The FUA relic set. Boosts multi-hit FUAs significantly - Numby benefits directly from each hit. The clear best-in-slot for Topaz.
Budget - 2+2
Musketeer + Firesmith or Speed set
Early farming option before you can reliably hit the Ashblazing domain. Strong subs on a 2+2 mix can outperform a bad 4pc.
Primary Planars
Inert Salsotto
Most recommended. Crit bonus plus FUA damage increase once you hit 50% Crit Rate threshold.
Alternative
Duran, Dynasty of Running Wolves
Praised in 4.3 discussions for FUA-heavy teams. Strong when you have multiple FUA units proc-ing together.
2 Light Cone
BIS
Worrisome, Blissful (Sig)
Crit Rate, FUA damage boost, and a team-wide Crit DMG debuff on target. Pull if you plan FUA teams long-term - it also buffs allies.
Best 4-Star
Swordplay S5
Stacks DMG% on the same target - ramps perfectly with Numby's multi-hits. Very close to sig in community damage calcs. The top value pick.
F2P
Cruising in the Stellar Sea S5 (Herta Store)
Crit Rate plus ATK after kills. Good but less consistent without reliable kill confirmation. Farm from the Herta store over time.
Decision: Pull signature if you are investing in FUA teams long-term. Otherwise Swordplay S5 is the community's top value recommendation.
3 Rotation
  1. 1 Use Technique before combat for initial Numby summon and ult readiness.
  2. 2 Use Skill to spawn and advance Numby - the multi-hit FUA chain begins here.
  3. 3 Use Ult after Numby's turn to buff him and maximize extra advances from ally FUAs. Most players agree post-Numby activation is optimal.
  4. 4 Use Basic Attack occasionally in SP-positive teams to conserve skill points for your carry.
  5. 5 Stay on single target. Numby excels at sustained single-target DPS. Avoid target swapping if running Swordplay - it resets your stacks.
Trace priority: Talent (Numby scaling) > Skill > Ult > Basic. Max Talent first - that is Numby's multiplier.
4 Team Compositions
Strongest
FUA Synergy Core
Topaz + Clara / Jing Yuan / Himeko + Robin or Asta + sustain (Aventurine / Fu Xuan / Luocha). FUA advances snowball Numby turns.
Hypercarry
Topaz + Bronya + Tingyun + sustain
Bronya for extra turns, Tingyun for ATK buffs. Viable but does not leverage Topaz's FUA amplification as well as dual-DPS teams.
Which team should I build?
FUA synergy team if you have Clara or Jing Yuan - it is future-proof and Topaz's core design intent. Hypercarry if you lack FUA allies, but plan to transition eventually.

Key Decision Points
SPD vs ATK% boots?
SPD gives more Numby turns and overall consistency. ATK% gives a higher damage ceiling. Default to SPD unless you have strong speed-support coverage from your team.
ERR rope vs ATK% rope?
ATK% deals more damage in most content lengths. ERR is only worth considering in very SP-positive rotations where you can ult frequently without sacrificing damage.
Crit Rate vs Crit DMG body?
Crit Rate body until you can consistently hit 50%+ total Crit Rate to activate Salsotto. At high eidolons or with strong support Crit buffs, switch to Crit DMG body.

Common Mistakes to Avoid
  • XIgnoring speed tuning - fewer Numby turns means significantly less damage output per cycle.
  • XWrong Crit ratio (too much Crit DMG, not enough Rate) - Salsotto does not activate and damage becomes inconsistent.
  • XTarget swapping when running Swordplay - you lose all damage stacks and the light cone becomes much weaker.
  • XRunning Topaz without FUA team partners - misses her core design and the kit's primary strength entirely.
  • XOver-investing in ERR rope - ATK% deals more damage in most content. Only switch if your rotation genuinely benefits from faster ult cycling.
