The goal: get Switch 2 and PC players into the same lobby and stay connected. The #1 fix after launch is syncing the Switch 2 clock to the internet - players could not join or host until this was correct.

1Before You Try to Join Anyone

2Private Lobby (Most Reliable)

Public lobbies cause most complaints - kicks, AFK hosts, disconnects, softlocks. Friends should use a named + passworded room.

Invites: invite from inside the game lobby, not the Steam overlay, and the joiner should already be on the server-browser screen. Share one message: region, room name, password, "waiting in lobby - official map only."

3Public / Random Matches

Cross-play works here too - Switch 2 players land in mixed PC lobbies and voice chat works. Expect softlocks on search, instant kicks, AFK hosts, and mid-round disconnects with no rejoin.

Switch 2 painting controls: painting is not touch-screen. Use Joy-Con 2 mouse mode (or a USB mouse) - it takes practice on a table surface. Face buttons A/B/X/Y handle several actions; do not assume everything is on the under-Joy-Con buttons. PC mouse users will paint faster - that is expected in mixed lobbies.

4Decision Points

SituationDo this
Playing with specific friendsPrivate name + password. Official map. Host waits.
Just want a quick gamePublic browser, same region, restart if kicked or empty.
Kids' account / family consoleDisable parental controls or the game refuses to work.
Want custom maps cross-platformWait - not ready yet. Use official stages.
Public keeps failing, private worksStick to private. Public stability is inconsistent on Switch 2.
If private rooms still fail after clock sync + restart + remake, the host's connection is often the bottleneck - have the most stable (ideally wired) player host.
