Dimraeth Early Access: The Real Roster Is 3 Races x 3 Classes
Steam still advertises 8 races x 6 classes (48 archetypes). The September 15 Early Access build ships 3x3 = 9. Race + class is three skill trees, not a skin - here is which pairings actually work.
Live picks: Human, Minotaur, Elf x Mage, Brawler, Shadow. Each pairing gets a race tree, a class tree, and a unique archetype tree. The three clean "on-identity" first characters: Minotaur Brawler (frontline), Human Mage (skills/DoTs), Elf Shadow (normal-attack speed). Fairy and the rest are roadmap, not the create screen.
1The Three Races' Real Identities
| Brawler | Mage | Shadow | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Human | Wild Strider | Elemental Ranger ★ | DoT / affliction outlier |
| Minotaur | Horned Vanguard ★ | Earthshaker | Off-identity ("feels silly") |
| Elf | Melee speed | Echo Weaver | Normal-attack assassin ★ |
2Lock a Pairing That Won't Fight You
-
1
Decide your damage loop before you click Create.
Skills are Builders (apply tokens/stacks) and Spenders (consume them for a spike). Minotaur and Elf want two builders + two spenders. Human Mage can live on one burn builder + one burn spender.
-
2
Read the archetype box on the create screen, then commit.
The pairing name and early skills show there - Vanguard, Elemental Ranger, Earth Shaker, Echo Weaver, Gloomstalker, Phase Duelist. That box is more useful than the "48 archetypes" marketing line.
-
3
Put first points on the identity, not "a bit of everything."
Pairing changes the XP cost of stats. Off-stat dumping leaves you short at the level 25 cap. Human Shadow: stack bleed/poison on every ability and take the big DoT nodes (+20% small / +60% big) - reported as its highest DPS. Elf Magician (Echo Weaver): full burn stack-and-spread with no finishers was clearing content at level 12.
-
4
Respec early instead of rerolling.
Rahaner in the Guild refunds skill points. Befr at Sanctum level 2 sells Elixir of Rebirth for 500 gold (unlock Befr by rescuing a lost child) - points unassign, you lose nothing but gold. Respec fixes paths (fire vs ice, builder vs pure DoT). It does not change race or class - wrong pairing means a new character.
3Match the Fantasy to the Pair
| I want... | Pick |
|---|---|
| Easiest first clear / group-friendly frontline | Minotaur Brawler (Vanguard) |
| Stand back and delete packs | Human Mage - or Elf Mage with 100% Intelligence + right-side fire tree + mana potions (reported one-shotting most packs) |
| Fast dagger / crit kit | Elf Shadow (crit + attack speed; poison/bleed are supplements only) |
| Poison as the actual build | Human Mage or Human Shadow - the racial DoT nodes are Human's, not Elf's |
| Spellsword | No paladin class exists. Closest: Elf Magician, or Human Mage with the Blizzard-follows-you modifier so you can melee inside the storm |
Mistakes on the Create Screen
- Building around the Steam 8x6 roster. Day-one menu is 3x3. Fairy is named in older materials and wishlists, not a launch race.
- Picking Elf Shadow for a poison main. The racial tree is crit/attack speed - Human has the DoT potency nodes.
- Minotaur Mage or Minotaur Shadow as a first character. Minotaur has almost no magic nodes, and Shadow feeds normals Minotaur already does better as Brawler.
- Spreading attributes. Off-stat stats cost more XP - you will be short at the 25 cap.
- Treating every pair as a reskin. Human Brawler and Minotaur Brawler do not share a tree.
- Rerolling instead of respeccing. Points refund for 500g; only the race+class pairing is permanent.
- Expecting progress to stay on one world. Your character travels; world buildings and recruits stay on that world.
