Batomon Showdown: Lives Cost by Day and Second Chance Rules
Players keep dying around 6-8 wins because they count losses instead of day-scaled life cost. You start with 10 lives - each loss costs 1, 2, or 3 depending on the day. Second Chance is one revive to 1 life, not a full extra bar.
The trap: there is no hidden "five losses and you are out" counter. The life bar and the day number are the only resources that matter. A run that "only lost twice" can still be dead after two day-5+ fights.
The Life Cost Table
| Days | Lives lost per defeat | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| 1-2 | 1 | Cheap experiments. Reroll for pairs, spend lives if a fight buys a merge. |
| 3-4 | 2 | Stop buying a zoo. Commit to a recognizable engine. |
| 5+ | 3 | Curiosity purchases are how championships get donated. |
1Spend Lives So You Reach 10 Wins
-
1
Days 1-2: experiment while losses cost 1
Spend lives if the fight buys a merge (3x level-1 into level 2). Reroll for pairs. A miss here is cheaper than a 3-life miss on day 6. Do not lock a random Legendary you cannot place.
-
2
Days 3-4: commit to an engine
Whatever your trainer actually prints - Formiqueen-adjacent Commons, Berroon plus items, Poison ticks, Water casts. Stop "one of everything": a unit that finishes no merge and sits on no trigger has to win the fight alone.
-
3
Arrive at day 5 with a core, or enough lives that one loss does not floor you
-
4
Day 5+: do the math before hovering Battle
Remaining lives รท 3 = remaining allowed losses. Example: 4 lives on day 6 means one mistake left (plus Second Chance if unused). Play the board you have - do not reroll for a highlight-reel comp.
-
5
If the shop does not complete a merge or a trigger, take the safe fight
Lock the missing copy or pass. Do not greedily preview Mythicals.
2When Second Chance Triggers
-
1
You are on 1 life - the next empty bar ends the run
-
2
Take the repair option from the event
A copy that finishes a level 2/3, a stabilizing trinket, extra item uses, or shared-HP help. Treat it as a shop, not a panic button.
-
3
Do not take a random high-rarity tourist you cannot position
-
4
After the event, stop greeding
Win the next fights with the repaired engine.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Treating lives like a fixed 5-loss clock. The cost scales by day.
- Arriving at day 5 with no merge core and 6-7 lives. Two losses and you are done.
- Using Second Chance as permission to keep rolling high-variance shops. It is one life, not a reset.
- Continuing to buy "maybe later" units after the 3-life spike.
- Thinking Extended or endless resets lives. You carry the bar you finished with.
- Treating late losses as tuition. Early losses can buy a merge; late losses buy a summary screen.
