Warframe Equinox Prime Steel Path

Equinox Prime Steel Path Build

Equinox Prime dominates Steel Path through a hybrid Day/Night switch loop. Night form tanks via Pacify and Mend; Day form releases the Maim nuke. Energy Transfer is mandatory - it carries accumulated Maim charge between forms, enabling near-constant damage output and survival simultaneously.

Day: Maim Nuke Night: Tank/Shield Steel Path SP Endurance High Range Priority
01

Day Form vs Night Form

Day Form
Nuke & Charge

Cast Provoke (3) for damage vulnerability + Strength buff, then activate Maim (4). Run and kill - Maim stores a percentage of enemy max HP. Release for a massive slash/explosion covering your full Range radius. Refill charge with Provoke + kills.

Night Form
Tank & Sustain

Keep Pacify (3) active for damage reduction and enemy slow. Mend (4) converts kills into overshields. With shield gating and high Efficiency, Night form makes Equinox nearly unkillable in prolonged Steel Path endurance - kills heal you continuously.

Energy Transfer - The Key Augment

Energy Transfer is mandatory for the hybrid switch loop. It carries over the accumulated Maim charge when you switch to Night form, and transfers it back when you switch to Day for the nuke. Without it, switching forms resets your Maim charge and the loop breaks entirely.

Mod Setup

Do Not Over-Stack Strength

Maim's nuke damage scales with accumulated enemy HP (from kills) and your Range - not raw Strength. Heavy Strength stacking (Blind Rage etc.) wastes slots and tanks Efficiency, draining your channels dry. Low Strength (under 100-150%) is sufficient for most content.

Category Mod Notes
Aura Corrosive Projection Armor strip helps Maim land harder on Steel Path enemies. Growing Power is an alternative for the Strength buff window.
Exilus Cunning Drift Range. Maim radius is everything - a few extra meters means the difference between hitting 10 or 40 enemies.
Core Overextended + Stretch Must Have Max Range to 250%+. Maim and Pacify both scale hard with Range.
Core Fleeting Expertise + Streamline Must Have Efficiency 150-175%+. Channeled abilities (3 and 4) drain energy constantly - without this you run dry in minutes.
Core Primed Continuity Duration reduces channel cost. Cheaper to sustain, less energy drain per second on Maim and Mend.
Core Adaptation Stacking DR for Steel Path survivability. Essential for Night form tanking between shield gates.
Core Energy Transfer Mandatory The switch augment. Carries Maim/Mend charge between forms. Never drop this mod.
Flex Transient Fortitude or Umbral Intensify Flex Some Strength helps Pacify's DR and Provoke's damage vuln. Umbral Intensify if you run Umbral set.
Flex Peaceful Provocation (augment) Flex Extends Provoke's damage vulnerability buff to allies and ramps it higher. Excellent in group play.
Flex Equilibrium Flex Energy from health orbs + passive energy gain. Pairs well with Mend's kill-based healing.
Avoid Blind Rage + Heavy Strength Avoid Strength does not meaningfully scale Maim nuke. Kills Efficiency and wrecks your sustain.

Archon Shards & Arcanes

Casting Speed is the First Shard Priority

Mend and Maim have noticeably slow cast times. 2x Archon Shards in Casting Speed is one of the biggest quality-of-life improvements for Equinox Prime - switching forms quickly is critical to the loop.

Slot Recommendation Why
Shards 1-2 Casting Speed Mend/Maim cast animations are slow. Casting Speed shards remove the most frustrating part of playing Equinox. Top priority.
Shards 3-4 Duration or Energy More Duration reduces channel cost further; Energy shards extend your sustain in long SP missions.
Shard 5 Strength or Armor Situational. Armor shard helps Night form survivability; Strength shard bumps Provoke's debuff and Pacify's DR.
Arcanes Arcane Blessing + Molt Augmented Blessing provides scaling health; Molt Augmented ramps Strength passively over the mission for growing Provoke/Pacify effectiveness. Arcane Guardian is a viable survivability alternative.
04

Helminth Options

Choose based on your weak point. All of these are replacements for an existing ability (typically Rest/Rage - the toggle sleep/enrage skill which is situational in Steel Path endurance).

Eclipse
75% damage reduction in shadow zones. Strong survivability option for harder content where Adaptation alone is not enough.
Gloom
Slows enemies and heals on kills. Excellent for endurance runs - the slow stacks with Pacify and the healing keeps you alive without relying on shield gating.
Reave
Mobility + armor/shield strip on enemies you pass through. Very strong in Day form for generating charges quickly and stripping armor before Maim detonation.
Pillage
Strip armor and top up overshields. Pairs well with Night form's shield gating by refreshing shields between gates in higher-level SP content.
05

Play Rotation

1
Day Form: Activate Maim
Cast Provoke (3) to apply damage vulnerability and stack a Strength buff. Then activate Maim (4). Start moving and killing - every enemy killed feeds a percentage of their max HP into the Maim charge counter.
2
Night Form: Tank & Transfer
When you are taking heavy fire or the charge is high: Cast Metamorphosis (1) to switch to Night form. Energy Transfer carries the Maim charge as Mend. Activate Pacify (3) for DR and slow. Kills refill shields through Mend.
3
Day Form: Release the Nuke
Switch back to Day form (Metamorphosis again). The Mend charge transfers back to Maim. Detonate Maim (4) again to release a massive slash explosion across your full Range radius. Re-activate Provoke and Maim and begin the next charge cycle.
4
Repeat & Adapt
Cycle between forms based on the situation. Stay in Night form longer when the mission gets dangerous (shield gating absorbs one-shots). Switch to Day form for nuke clears. With Casting Speed shards, switching is fast enough to react in real time.

Key Decision Points

Day-only, Night-only, or Hybrid?
Pure Day for maximum nuke output and fastest farming speed. Pure Night for endurance where survival is the only goal. Hybrid is recommended for most Steel Path - the flexibility handles sudden difficulty spikes without relogging or rebuilding.
How much Strength should I invest?
Under 100-150% base Strength is sufficient for most missions. Maim's nuke scales with range and kills, not Strength mods. Test in Simulacrum - adding a Strength mod while removing Efficiency often hurts total performance. Only stack higher if using Peaceful Provocation for significant ally buff value.
How many Forma do I need?
Start with 2-3 Forma. The base build is flexible and does not require Umbral polarities to function. Add Forma for Umbral mods or augments after testing the baseline rotation. Do not over-Forma before knowing which flex slots you want to use.

Common Mistakes

!
Over-investing in Strength
The most common Equinox mistake. Stacking Blind Rage tanks Efficiency and breaks channel sustain. Maim scales with range and kills. High Strength does not translate to meaningfully stronger nukes in practice.
!
Not running Energy Transfer
Without Energy Transfer, switching forms resets your Maim charge and the entire loop fails. There is no viable alternative. This augment is mandatory.
!
Low Range
A small Maim radius is the most common reason players report weak Equinox nukes. At 250%+ Range, Maim covers most rooms. At 100% Range, it hits a handful of nearby enemies. Range is the primary DPS stat for Maim.
!
Staying in one form too rigidly
The switch loop is what makes Equinox exceptional in Steel Path. Players who lock into one form miss the charge transfer mechanic. With Casting Speed shards, switching is fast enough to do reactively mid-fight.
!
Low Efficiency on channeled abilities
Maim (4) and Mend (4) drain energy continuously. Without 150%+ Efficiency, you run out of energy in long SP missions and Equinox stops working entirely. Fleeting Expertise + Streamline is non-negotiable.
