Step 1 · Pick Your Weapon

Thunder Cage
SMG · Special Rounds
Mobbing

Explosions chain through packs. Best gear-independent starter. Pairs with Bunny for electric synergy.

Enduring Legacy
Machine Gun · General Rounds
All-Rounder

Versatile for both mobbing and bossing. Best pick if you want one weapon that does everything well.

Secret Garden
Tactical Rifle · Special Rounds
Bossing

Top single-target DPS. Best-in-slot for intercept bosses when built correctly.

Python
SMG · Special Rounds
Single-Target

High single-target output. Especially strong with Gley. Farm after Thunder Cage if you play Gley.

Perforator
Hand Cannon · High-Power Rounds
Shield-Break

Shield-breaking specialist for specific bosses. Situational but irreplaceable in that niche.

Malevolent
Launcher
Mobbing

Strong AoE mobbing. Good alternative to Thunder Cage if you prefer launcher-type weapons.

Enhancement Steps · Do This in Order

01
Weapon Level Transmission

At the Workbench (Ni Call Repair Station, Albion), sacrifice a high-level weapon to instantly boost your Ultimate to matching level. Target level 100 first.

Materials: Phase Exchangers and Super Alloys from dismantling junk weapons.

Do this immediately after acquiring the weapon. A level 100 Ultimate with no mods still outperforms a low-level one with mods.
02
Enhance the Unique Ability

Use a duplicate of the SAME Ultimate Weapon to level up its unique passive (e.g., stronger chain explosions on Thunder Cage). More duplicates = stronger passive.

  • Farm duplicates intentionally from research or boss drops
  • This is why you never stop farming your chosen weapon
  • The unique ability is the core of what makes Ultimates worth using
03
Weapon Readjustment (level 80+)

Reroll random stats - crit rate, weak point damage, fire rate. Only do this on your main weapon; it is resource-intensive.

Target rolls: Crit Rate, Weak Point Damage, and damage type matching your build. Stop when you hit a good combination.
04
Apply Crystallization Catalysts

Unlock extra mod slots or reduce mod costs. Farm Catalysts from specific missions. Apply to your #1 weapon before others.

05
Mod It for Your Content
  • Fire Rate - increases attacks per second
  • Weak Point Damage - multiplies boss DPS
  • Crit Rate and Crit Damage - biggest DPS multiplier
  • Magazine Size - reduces reload downtime
  • Elemental damage matching your reactor and descendant
Target 600k-1M+ DPS. Check tfdtools.com for community build examples with your specific weapon.

Key Decision Points

Meta vs. Fun

S/A tier weapons clear content faster but require more farm. Start with what fits your descendant - the synergy compounds quickly.

Ammo Type

Stick to 1-2 ammo types early (e.g., Special Rounds) so you can reuse the same reactor and mods across multiple weapons.

Mobbing vs. Bossing

Most Ultimates excel at one role. Build separate loadouts, or pick Enduring Legacy as a versatile option that handles both.

Resource Priority

Fully complete one weapon before starting the next. Energy Activators and Catalysts go to your #1 pick first without exception.
