Scavland Quest Book Blank After Inhuman Knowledge? You Finished the Story
Killing the neuromancer (Neurogeist) boss at the end of Inhuman Knowledge is the current Early Access story end - the live build is about 80% of Act One. A blank journal after that fight is expected, not a failed trigger.
The main quest is not broken. After Inhuman Knowledge and the Neurogeist fight, the quest book going blank is the content gate. The rest of Act One is already built and waiting on polish - reloading, abandoning the quest, or hunting a hidden NPC will not unlock it. You are caught up.
1What to Do Right Now
-
1
Confirm you actually finished Inhuman Knowledge.
You should have completed the boss fight and seen the journal clear. If the fight never happened and the book is already empty, that is a different problem - check side jobs and earlier story steps first.
-
2
Stop looking for the next main-quest marker.
There is no published next objective after the neuromancer. Treat the blank page as "content gate," not "missed interact."
-
3
Shift to the loop that still progresses your save.
Take jobs/contracts from settlement brokers (Anatoly, Nadja, others) - pools refresh on the 24-hour in-game cycle or after sleeping in a safehouse bed. Farm faction and trader reputation for better stock, prices, and access. Run bunkers and mutant hunts for money and parts.
-
4
Faction gone hostile? Use Raisa (Diplomat) truce jobs.
After hotfix 0.7.2 she can offer a follow-up job without forcing you to finish the current one first. Community threshold talk puts hostility around -300 standing.
-
5
Watch patches, not the journal.
The next story steps will arrive as an update, not as a hidden interactable on the current map. Three acts are planned for the full game.
2Match Your Situation
| Situation | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Book blank after the neuromancer | You finished the current story | Jobs, reputation, bunkers - wait for the polish patch |
| Book blank before that fight | Different bug or missed earlier chain | Check the Corpsbearer / Ilya "inform the Mudlarks" dialogue - a separate reported lockup; try another save or the experimental branch |
| Faction shooting on sight | Standing too low (~-300) | Raisa truce jobs; stop killing that faction's patrols |
| Want more story vs more power | Story is gated; power is not | Contracts + bunker loot until the next act chunk ships |
Mistakes That Waste Your Save
- Reloading the boss fight expecting a new journal page. Multiple players get the same blank book after a clean win.
- Treating the blank journal like a softlock and restarting the whole save. You lose hours of gear and reputation for no story gain.
- Burning ammo and durability hunting a nonexistent next marker. Keep guns repaired and let jobs fund it.
- Mixing this up with other quest bugs. The Corpsbearer conversation freeze and the full-backpack reward drop have separate workarounds - this one does not need one.
