Prime Heroes: Do You Need a Prime Hero in the Starting 11 for Arenas?
Yes. You need at least one Prime Hero in your Starting 11 to enter and complete Prime Heroes Arenas / Live Events in FC 26. Later waves bump that to two. Bench and reserves do not count - but loans do.
The gate: this requirement is what blocks most players from the free Prime Heroes (Aimar, Williams, Barzagli, Hamsik) and the Completionist 91+ pack. Get one Prime Hero into the XI, then the rotating 48-hour Arenas become a short grind.

Completing those gives a temporary Prime Hero you can immediately put in the XI - the fastest free entry.

Draft workaround reported by players
Start an offline Draft vs AI, keep picking Heroes until a Prime Hero appears in the options, then play or sim. The drafted card counts for the requirement. Restart the Draft if none shows.

Check the objective text for the current wave's hero count
Events 1-2 need 1 Prime Hero in the XI. Events 3-4 require 2 - players confirmed this on the Event 4 wave.

If a formation is locked, set it as your only tactics slot before kickoff
Typical locks are 4-4-2 (2) or 3-4-1-2. A second tactics set loads in-game and voids the objective.

Read the wave's task list: Play X, Win Y, Score in Z separate matches
Arenas refresh every 48 hours with house rules like first-to-2 or Golden Goal - you only need the required wins, not 90 minutes.

Golden Goal formats end quickly once you score.

Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Leaving the Prime Hero on the bench. Objectives do not register - they must be in the XI at kickoff.
- Changing formation or tactics during the locked-formation match. That voids the objective.
- Using an expired loan. Check the loan timer before queuing.
- Playing friendlies or the wrong mode. Only the specified Prime Heroes Event counts.
- Not restarting the client after a content refresh. New objectives sometimes fail to appear until you relaunch.
