Core Mechanic

Prime → Detonate: Use Rolling Slam (Act 1) or Leap Slam (Act 2+) to prime targets — they glow when primed. Follow immediately with Boneshatter to trigger AoE explosions on every primed enemy. Herald of Ash chains the ignite across the whole pack. For bosses: Infernal Cry → Earthquake → Perfect Strike (hold until the red flash on your weapon, then release).

Campaign Leveling Steps

1
Weapon Priority — Most Important
Check vendors every level
  • Use a 2H mace at all times
  • Prioritize: high base physical damage, % increased physical damage, added physical damage, +levels to melee skills
  • Upgrade every few levels — an outdated mace cuts your damage in half
  • Use crafting orbs on weapons and jewelry from Act 2 onwards, don't hoard them

Act 2+ — Swap to Leap Slam
Better mobility and positioning
  • Replace Rolling Slam with Leap Slam as your prime and mobility skill
  • Leap into packs, then Boneshatter for screen-wide explosions
  • Dodge Roll after Leap Slam for safety against counterattacks
  • Boss rotation: Infernal Cry → Earthquake (refresh stacks) → Perfect Strike on red flash → Hammer of the Gods for burst

Gear and Defenses
Campaign-friendly priorities
  • All gear: Life, Armour, Resistances (cap at 75%), Strength
  • Boots: movement speed — upgrade constantly
  • Weapon and gloves: flat/added physical damage, +melee skills, attack speed
  • Optional early uniques: Thrillsteel (helm, Onslaught), Wanderlust (boots)
  • Flasks: Life with charges on kill. Charms: Thawing (freeze removal), Stone (stun removal)
  • No uniques required — self-found works throughout the full campaign
5
Passive Tree Priorities
Tankiness first, then damage
  • Path toward Life, Armour, Strength clusters first
  • Then: melee/stun buildup nodes, area damage, physical damage
  • Take stun-related nodes like Singular Purpose — stun priming is the build's core
  • Leap Slam puts you in melee range constantly — tank up or you won't survive to deal damage

Ascendancy Choice

Alternative
Warbringer

Defensive option. Strong for armour break, totems, and Warcry synergies via Anvil's Weight and Imploding Impacts. Better if you prefer a tankier, Warcry-focused playstyle.

Key Decision Points

When to upgrade my weapon?
Every time you find a higher base damage mace — don't wait. Weapon upgrade = biggest single damage gain. Use crafting orbs on weapons and jewelry from Act 2 onwards.
Rolling Slam or Leap Slam?
Rolling Slam early — reliable priming, consistent stun buildup. Swap to Leap Slam in Act 2 for better positioning and mobility over obstacles.
Bosses feel too tanky — what to do?
Master Perfect Strike timing — hold until the red flash, then release. Add Hammer of the Gods or Earthshatter for burst windows. Prime with multiple hits before Boneshatter if the boss has a high stun threshold.
Endgame transition (level 70-80)?
Move toward full slam setups with Forge Hammer and more Warcries. Titan's Earthbreaker aftershocks become the main clear source.
04

Common Mistakes

Ignoring weapon upgrades
A 2-act-old mace cuts your damage in half. Check vendors every level without exception.
Hitting unprimed targets with Boneshatter
Always prime with Rolling or Leap Slam first. Boneshatter on unprimed enemies is a weak hit with no explosion.
Missing the Perfect Strike window
Hold the skill, wait for the red flash on your weapon, then release. Early or late release misses the damage multiplier entirely.
Neglecting life, armour, and resists
Melee puts you in the center of packs. Uncapped resists or low life will kill you to any elemental pack or boss DoT.
Skipping Herald of Ash
Herald of Ash chain-ignites from Boneshatter explosions, turning single pops into full screen clears. Get it early and keep it active.
