How to Win Town Battles and Restore The Town
You do not win by kill count. You win by capturing the enemy's red-circle checkpoints and holding them - while your own starting flag does not get overrun. Players who walk in on the quest marker alone get wrecked.
The system: carry your banner and soldiers follow you with melee only. Plant the banner on a barricade and they stop to shoot bows. Clear a red circle, stand inside until it pulses, hold a few seconds to capture. The first fight requires both enemy circles on a timer - and it only runs on one specific weekday.
1Prepare Before Talking to the Officer
-
1
Hire mercenaries first.
Early barracks upgrades and combat points come from paying mercs, not your first homemade zombies. Players report needing combat strength around 10 for mercs plus a few extra after a loss.
-
2
Build barricades (and towers if you have them) on your side before the fight.
Destroyed barricades must be rebuilt before you can retry.
-
3
Minimum viable setup reported for the first big fight: 1 squad, Defense Power around 12, 2 barricades.
More units on a checkpoint speeds capture.
-
4
Put food or a healing potion on the hotbar.
Stamina runs out while you hold a circle.
-
5
Save high-red-skull corpses for soldiers.
Red skulls cap how many perks a zombie can take. Resurrection needs at least one red skull and a complete organ set - white-only corpses will not prepare, and belong in graves.
2The Winning Rhythm
-
1
Start on your blue circle and lock it.
-
2
Watch the pressure bars at the top for which lane is about to dump zombies.
-
3
Carry the banner to the next red circle when there is a gap.
-
4
Hold until captured, then check your home flag.
Players lose by leaving the start undefended.
-
5
Do not chase every zombie.
Secure one point → read the next lane → move only when that lane is clear.
3Key Decisions
| Decision | What works |
|---|---|
| Mercs vs your own zombies first | Pay mercs until barracks, gear, and points exist. First zombies belong on work lines. |
| High-red corpse: grave or soldier | Soldier / factory. Burial wants white skulls. |
| Fight today vs wait a week | Only on the Town-battle weekday, and only when barricades + strength are up. Sewers exist for practice on other days. |
| Chase kills vs hold flags | Hold flags. Kills are incidental. |
| Banner on barricade vs in hand | Hand = move the squad. Barricade = ranged hold. |
Common Mistakes
- Starting the first Town fight with only the quest ping - no barricades, no mercs.
- Treating it like hack-and-slash instead of checkpoint control.
- Forgetting the home flag while pushing the far red circle.
- Expecting bows while the squad follows you. Moving soldiers are melee only.
- Trying to resurrect a white-skull or incomplete corpse.
- Burning high-red bodies in fancy graves.
- Leaving destroyed barricades unrepaired - the officer will not restart the fight.
- Planning the week around a battle that only exists on one weekday.
