BOMBANANA! CHAOS Modules: The Three That Cannot Be Solved
Pressure, Slider, and Alarm cannot be solved. They are babysitting jobs that last the entire bomb. If Pressure or Slider tops out, or Alarm's 10-second window is missed, the bomb explodes even if every other module is cleared.
The rule: defusal modules (Cable, Calculator, Direction, Color Slider, Soundboard, Symbol, Piano, Monkey-Says, Morse, Maze, Switch) have a done state. CHAOS modules do not. Assign a babysitter the second the bomb loads, or the unending modules kill you after you have solved everything else.
1Identify CHAOS the Second the Bomb Loads
-
1
Call the names out loud before anyone starts a normal module
Pressure - a needle that climbs on its own. Slider - a bar that climbs on its own (not Color Slider, which is solvable). Alarm - sits quiet, then suddenly heats buttons.
-
2
Assign a babysitter and an Alarm watcher immediately
Sessions fall apart because nobody claimed these first.
2Pressure: Keep Tapping the Center Button
-
1
The needle rises continuously and never pauses
Blind (the only one with hands on the bomb) taps the center button whenever they are not executing a confirmed input.
-
2
Hand off only with a spoken "I have Pressure" / "you have Pressure"
If Blind is mid-sequence on Monkey-Says or Maze, someone else must reach the Pressure button or the needle finishes you.
-
3
Stop only when the whole bomb is defused
3Slider: Keep Pulling It Down
-
1
Same rule as Pressure: it rises forever
Pull it fully back down - a half-pull does not count as control.
-
2
Same babysitter rule
Teams usually park Blind on Pressure plus Slider in the gaps between confirmed inputs.
4Alarm: The 10-Second Burst
-
1
First person who sees it shouts "Alarm!"
It activates at some point, often early, and buttons heat. Everyone stops the current relay.
-
2
Press every heated button inside 10 seconds
It triggers again later - repeat until the bomb is safe.
-
3
Keep the fastest hands near Alarm instead of locking one player on it
Alarm needs a named watcher and a rehearsed burst, not a glued hand. Missing the window is worse than interrupting a module.
5Order of Work That Survives
-
1
Name every CHAOS module, assign babysitter plus Alarm watcher
-
2
Solve Easy and Medium defusals first
So Blind has gaps to tap Pressure and Slider.
-
3
Park Hard modules (Monkey-Says, Morse, Maze, Switch) until the babysit loop is stable
-
4
After every Alarm burst, confirm no module was left mid-input
Then resume one module only.
Common Mistakes That Blow the Run
- Treating CHAOS like a puzzle. There is no complete state to hunt for.
- Mixing up Slider with Color Slider. One never ends; the other is a quick defusal.
- Starting a Hard sequence with nobody on Pressure. The needle does not wait for your Morse.
- Talking over "Alarm!" Half the 10-second window is gone before anyone moves.
- Blind acting on a module before Deaf finishes the callout. Then nobody is on the needle.
- Assuming one CHAOS module means the rest are optional. Late levels can stack two Alarms.
